Týr is one of the Lords of Kobol in the Battlestar Galactica universe. In the Ancient Norse religion, he is the God of War, with an emphasis on the formalities of war.

Lord of Kobol[]

Týr is one of the gods of war. He gives his name to a day of the week on the Caprican calendar, Tuesday ("Retribution"). As a God of War, he shares attributes with other war deities - his father Odin, and Mars, the patron god of Tauron.[2]

Old Norse Religion[]

Týr (Old Norse "Týr", Old English "Tiw", or "Tiu") is one of the oldest gods of the Germanic peoples and a somewhat enigmatic figure. He was apparently the god concerned with the formalities of war - especially treaties - and also, appropriately, of justice.[3]

Týr was the son of the god, Odin. Thor is his brother. He carried a spear in his left hand, since his right hand was bitten off by the wolf, Fenrir.[4]

Týr came to be identified by the Romans with their own Mars, hence dies Marti (Mars’ Day) came to be rendered Týsdagr (Tuesday).[5]
